Holy Week and Easter Services
Holy Week this year is very different …
We have services and meditations on our facebook page and hope that they will offer opportunities for you to pray in your homes and on your exercise time as you walk the streets praying for our nation, our community and our friends and families.
On Facebook this week (please remember you do not need a Facebook account to visit our page):
Tuesday 6pm a service of Tenebrae – a reflection through the darkness of Jesus’ last evening
Wednesday at 2pm, 4pm and 6pm 3 different meditations on walking a labyrinth, including one which stops at places on Jesus’ road during that week.
Thursday evening at 6pm: a service for Maundy Thursday
Good Friday every hour between 9am and 3pm: 7 different meditations on the Seven Last Words of Jesus.
Easter Day: 10.30am a service of Hope, Life and Resurrection for Easter
Other things you could do this week …
There are lots of ideas of meditations, prayers and services across the internet.
At home, you could set aside a wee corner as an altar – placing a candle and some regular household items to remember this holy of weeks … perhaps a glass and plate to remember communion; a jug and bowl to remember foot washing; some thorns for the crown Jesus was forced to wear; a simple wooden cross.
And perhaps use things from the garden, or from around your house to put together a wee Easter Garden that you could set in your window on Easter Day to celebrate and proclaim the joy of life in the midst of isolation and death. Let us declare together that Life is stronger than Death; that Light is stronger than Darkness … and that God walks with us through both death and darkness.
