St Mark’s takes the care of creation very seriously as part of our faithful discipleship. We are delighted that in April 2023 we received our Silver Eco-award from Eco-congregation Scotland.

As part of our commitment to the care of creation, we recycle and reuse as much as possible:

We are collection points for:

  • Thin plastic bags (used for bread, bagels, bakery plastic wrappings) as well as the plastic tags.
  • Coffee bags – all brands of coffee pouches and flexible coffee packages
  • Batteries
  • Spectacles – which we take to a local optician when the box gets full
  • You can also pick up envelopes to recycle your old print cartridges

All of this is in our vestibule. Put them there when you’re passing – the church is always open on Wednesday and Thursday mornings, as well as Sunday mornings .. or whenever you see the door open.

In addition to our usual council recycling, we also now have our own compost bin at the back of the garden.

For details of any of these … please contact the church office.
