Concerts and Strawberry Tea May 2015
For this year’s St Marks Festival we are holding a series of concerts:
Music for a Summer Evening (pdf poster)
Saturday 2nd May 7pm: Organ Recital
St Marks Organists Aki Ippolito and Jean Smithson
Friday 29th May 7pm: Honest Singers, The Honest Singers are made up from people who love to sing. They sing, a wide variety of songs, spiritual, African, traditional, and even pop, in harmony or “rounds”.
Saturday 30th May 7pm: Edinburgh Steiner School: A selection of songs for summer from Class 5, family and friends.
Wednesday 3rd June 7pm: Portobello High School Portobello High School’s cello ensemble, directed by Mrs Aimée Horvath, will play music from Bach to 21st Century pop songs. The Spurtle Ceilidh Band, also from Portobello High, will play a mix of traditional music with their own individual twist.
Friday 5th June 7.30pm: Dalkeith & Monktontall Colliery Brass Band … NB Concert at 7.30pm! The Dalkeith and Monktonhall Colliery Brass Band play an evening of music for all ages and tastes …. Latin, classical, rock, pop, traditional and modern. One of the UK’s top brass bands!
All concerts at £5 (£20 for all five concerts). Under 16s free. Available on the door or from the church.
Also on Saturday 16th May, 2-4pm .. there is a Strawberry Tea Party, with stalls and an opportunity to chat ….£2 (children free)
The Festival will close with a return of our Songs of Praise … an opportunity to nominate your favourite hymn and worship through music. Sunday 7th June at 5.30pm.
