Celebration of Peace and Restoration: 3rd September
Saturday 3rd September, we are holding a party in the garden and graveyard of St Marks.
We will have a short service of blessing for our new peace pole and for our role in the world wide movement of peace. We will be joined by the Bishop of Edinburgh, Right Revd John Armes for this and by the Honest Singers of Musselburgh … at 11am
We will have refreshments and the opportunity to make an origami bird as part of the Edinburgh Japanese Society’s memorial to those who died in the atomic bombs of WW2.
We will have an update on our work in the graveyard, including our new graveyard trail, as we have been researching some of the stories behind the gravestones, and there will be an opportunity to enjoy the space available.
We are also involved in Art Walk Porty this week, with three pieces of art:
One which will become a permanent feature in St Marks – a memorial to the Saints of the church and the music of our old now decommissioned pipe organ – by Barbara Hilliam.
Stations of the Found, by Chris Dooks as part of the Art Rail Commissions
A new installation in the graveyard by Jenny Pope
All welcome!
